Our journey to write Unintentional Humor and create the Celebrate Autism foundation would not have been possible without the support and friendship of the incredible women of Kappa Kappa Gamma. In May, 2012 we visited the Struve family in Chicago, IL. Robin Ruyle Struve, is an attorney at Latham & Watkins, LLP who has generously donated their time and expertise (pro bono) to establish the Celebrate Autism 501(c)3 foundation.

As we travel the US attending autism events and selling Unintentional Humor books, we often connect with Kappas around the country. The unconditional support we receive from from KKG friends is a large part of our success. We look forward to meeting friends new and old in the upcoming months!

“Autism Grows Up” was the theme of the Autism Society of North Carolina conference, and Brent Anderson was a perfect representation of that message. The informative, 2-day conference was held at the Hilton University Place in Charlotte, NC, and featured keynote speaker, Dr. Peter Gerhardt on February 8th along with Dr. John Thomas, and authors Julie Clark and Brent & Linda Anderson on Saturday, February 9th. Well known author, advocate, and Aspie, Jennifer O’Toole, was featured at a book signing on Friday evening.

The 2013 conference focused on preparing for adulthood and all that comes with it: family transitions, living and working in the community, and the goal of independence. l learned from teaching and behavioral experts on best practices, gained insights about raising girls on the spectrum, and shared the lighter side of autism through humor. For the second year in a row, the conference was sold out with over 800 people attending the two-day event.
